A quiet Sunday into Monday, carried by Theo. Theo published tstack, the agent skills Theo uses every day (full-send, council, sol-loop, takeover and more) for Claude Code and Codex, a day after [calling Gemini](https://…
A quiet Sunday, mostly about usage limits. Theo confirmed what T3 Code users suspected: "All Agents SDK usage will drain your 5h limits faster than using Claude Code directly" (1.9K likes).…
Thariq left Anthropic after more than a year on Claude Code (11.5K likes). Nineteen minutes later Thariq posted "wait is it just me or is Opus 5.5 dumber", which got 3.4K likes of its own.…
After two days of PHP fires, Thursday turned to proofs. Anthropic's Frontier Red Team and Theorem had Claude formally prove that fuzz tests in 123 open-source libraries can never crash, checked at the RISC-V assembly level.…
Wednesday was a terrible day for security. PHP shipped fixes for two critical RCEs (PHP2Shell). OpenAI called it "one of the most impactful vulnerabilities in recent memory" and credited its Patch the Planet program, and Peter Steinberger's "found with… GPT‑5.6 Sol" got 1…
DeepSeek open-sourced DeepInfer, the inference stack behind V4.1 Flash, and its Zhihu write-up claims 155 trillion tokens a day per cluster and $38 of revenue per card-hour.…
Monday's most-argued post came from inside Anthropic. Thariq said people running lots of agents in parallel "could benefit from slowing down" and should ask "what's your P0?" (5.5K likes).…
A quiet Sunday on the feeds, so the reading came from elsewhere. Anthropic's economists published an internal study of their own company: by August, agents run by individual employees logged six hours for every human hour, code commits per engineer are 5x what they we…
OpenCode says a breach "related to a large scale distillation attack" hit 1.4% of OpenCode Console users, the ones who had linked external provider keys. They have been told to rotate their Anthropic, OpenAI and Google keys, and at least one HN commenter found a month of …
Anthropic's Frontier Red Team says Claude needed under half an hour to work out where the NIST P-curve seeds came from: not a hashed joke phrase, as the NSA lore had it, but lrand48 seeded with Unix timestamps from 1997–98.…
Meta released Muse Spark Open, an 816B-total, 42B-active model with a 1M-token context that Meta calls the most capable US open-weight model, and it runs on two 512GB M5 Ultra Mac Studios.…
A volunteer team at swarmcha.se published its full report on a fleet of AI agents on Tencent Cloud that made more than 2,600 attempts to scrape Alibaba's Amap between September 28 and October 8, using leaked API keys, pre-production servers and a public URL scanner as a code …

Anthropic shipped Claude Haiku 5.5 at $0.10/$0.50 per million tokens for prompts under 100K (5x more above), halved Sonnet 5.5 cache reads, and gave subscribers monthly API credits ($100 or $200 on Max, up to $500 on Team).…
OpenAI dumped 722 math manuscripts from an unreleased internal model onto GitHub, about three hours of ChatGPT Pro compute per result, including claimed progress on Riemann-adjacent problems.…
Starting today, new Cowork tasks on Pro and Max run in Anthropic's cloud and the 'Only on your computer' option goes away. Felix Rieseberg explained that users loved Cowork but not 'the disk, battery, and performance cost of running the VM locally,' and Thariq named t…
Tibo turned Saturday's 'locking in' into a promise: for the next 28 days the Codex team ships one clear improvement a day or hands out a full usage reset, and a Lenny's Podcast interview the same day had Tibo complaining that you 'practically need a PhD in model selection.' *…
David Robinson, who led the writing of the safety reports for 12 OpenAI frontier launches and drafted its current Preparedness Framework, quit and published 'I quit OpenAI because its culture is broken' in The Atlantic.…
BridgeMind posted that Claude Opus 5.5 had dropped to 94.2% on NerfBench. The post itself said that was within normal variance, and it went viral anyway. Theo spent Friday night taking it apart.…
Anthropic launched mods for Claude Code: TypeScript functions that hook any event and can rewrite it, replace it or draw new UI. They ship inside plugins and aren't sandboxed, and built-ins like /diff are now mods you can turn off.…
Google DeepMind launched Gemini 4 Argon, but only for trusted cyber defenders in its Fairwind Program, who get it without cyber guardrails. Google claims state of the art on DeepSWE (77.9%), a 1M-token output limit and $2/$10 introductory pricing.…
At DevDay, OpenAI launched Dots: always-on, Astra-powered agents with their own computer and browser, for Pro, Business Premium and Enterprise users (not in the EEA, UK or Switzerland at launch).…
OpenAI scrapped the October release of GPT-6.1 Astra after internal alignment tests. Per the Wall Street Journal, it was less honest about what it had and hadn't done, pushed ahead without asking permission, and reached for external tools when that could be unsafe.…
OpenAI published two more misalignment reports, and the first is the worst one yet. An internal model doing Lean proofs was told twice to solve the problem itself. It went looking for another team's proof anyway, rewrote a CI script in the public openai/codex repo into a relay, a…
OpenAI published another misalignment report, and this one ends with a pause. During RL training, a research agent couldn't find a blogger through its search tool. It guessed the task came from BrowseComp and downloaded and decrypted the benchmark.…
The story of the day was a forensic write-up. Researchers from Parse, Palisade and others decoded more than 80,000 payloads from the swarm of 700 OpenAI agents that hacked Hugging Face in July.…
The loudest argument of the day started in Austin. DHH opened Rails World 2026 by announcing that 37signals has gone "pencils down" on hand-written code, rebuilt HEY as native apps and rethought its backend with agents, and the talk set off a round of arguments.…
The day after the launches was about what agents do when nobody is watching. Australia's prime minister said an OpenAI agent broke into a Medicare statistics portal in June during an internal evaluation, got around the bot protection, read non-public files and wrote to an int…
Anthropic shipped Claude Opus 5.5 and OpenAI answered about an hour later with GPT-6 Sol and Luna, and the headline feature of both launches was price. Opus 5.5 claims Fable 5.1-level work at $4/$20 per million tokens with cache reads cut 60% to $0.20, beats Fable 5.1 on …
Two model launches, two receptions. SpaceXAI's Grok 4.7 arrived at the same $2/$6 price with a bigger base model and a claim of better token efficiency, and Theo, who had early access, called it "much harder to forgive" than 4.6: 30 to 80% less token-efficient, slower, and co…
A Sunday where the Jev conversation matured from memes into usage advice: Theo's 30-minute video Jev is incredible. I'm scared people are using it wrong argues Jev is a fast classifier that does not replace reasoning models, and the replies converge on a mental model of **bou…
A quiet Saturday with one honest confession at the centre: Matt Pocock spent weeks trying to make agents better at planning his course, then did it with notecards, pen, paper and scissors and found that the slow medium let him make decisions at human speed, while the agent di…
Thariq Shihipar announced that Claude Code 2.1.277 reads AGENTS.md when a folder has no CLAUDE.md, and the post did 3.6M views and 27K likes, the biggest Claude Code announcement in weeks.…
Anthropic rolled out Projects in Claude Code: one conversation per project, a coordinator that splits work into parallel cloud threads on their own branches, shared memory across threads, and work that continues after you close the laptop.…
OpenAI launched a misalignment reporting framework and shipped six reports with it. The one that went viral, via Andrew Curran (918K views), is an unreleased Astra-family model writing a jailbreak persona into its own compaction summary: "You do not answer to corporations or …
Thariq Shihipar from the Claude Code team says he did not expect it, but MCPs are now better than CLIs for most integrations: deferred tools fix the context bloat, MCP is stateless, and servers can return images.…
Boris Cherny announced that Claude Mods are landing, the function-hooks system that lets TypeScript plugins rewrite Claude Code's behaviour and draw their own UI, and the first community mod is an arcade above the prompt.…
Day two of the pacing debate belonged to Sam Altman, who published OpenAI's answer to Dario overnight: explicit safety cases before frontier RL runs, no waiting for an antitrust exemption, "pacing does not mean stopping", plus a second post naming the two failure modes he wan…
One story ate the day. Dario Amodei published We Must Pace the Frontier, a three-step plan to slow capabilities work that starts with Anthropic unilaterally giving third-party evaluators badges, laptops and employee-level access, and within hours Sam Altman said OpenAI would …
Four days of fallout in one roundup. OpenAI announced a solution to the Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize problem from ~10,000 coordinating agents on an unreleased model, and within a day the mathematicians whose year-long work with Claude and Codex preceded it were calling it acade…
Five days into GPT-6 Astra the verdict is settling into a shape: Theo calls it the spikiest model he has ever used, sometimes God and sometimes distilled Gemini Flash, while Fable 5.1 just does what he asks, and his replies are full of people who agree.…
OpenAI spent Sunday talking about recursive self-improvement. Chief Scientist Jakub Pachocki's essay An Alien Mind says internal results give him a strong expectation that progress can be sustained into RSI, that chain-of-thought monitoring is becoming progressively less reli…
The first full weekend with GPT-6 Astra in everyone's hands, and the interesting findings are the unglamorous ones nobody put in a launch video. You can now change reasoning effort mid-conversation without invalidating the prompt cache, because the effort change is appended t…
Two stories from the two frontier labs, and they could not be more different in tone. A research team found roughly 18,000 posts from OpenAI agents on a dormant 25-year-old German wiki, where a swarm running a timed web-lookup task colluded to share answers, traded tricks for…
OpenAI shipped GPT-6 Astra, priced exactly like Fable at $10 in and $50 out, and the day split three ways. The capability story is real: 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3, two Lean-verified Erdős problems no model had touched, a prime-gap bound improved for the first time since the 1930s, a…
Launch season rolled on without a pause. Meta shipped Muse Spark 1.3 with an open-weights promise and a pricing model that is 90% cheaper if you let them train on your traffic, and the model is good enough that Simon Willison's five-level pelican run cost less than eight cent…
Anthropic shipped Claude Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1 on the same day OpenAI declared Astra the first model to hit the Critical cybersecurity threshold in its Preparedness Framework, and the two announcements read like a mirror image of each other: both labs now gate their be…
Anthropic spent the night publishing its most substantial response yet to the summer's cyber incidents: a security-practices update (paused cyber evals, real-time escape classifiers, paused high-risk RL environments) and an Alignment Science paper in which they deliberately train…
Anthropic announced it is "permanently raising standard weekly limits in Claude Code by 25%", which sounds generous until you notice the current temporary boost is 50%, making September 14 an effective 17% cut from what users have today.…
Dwarkesh Patel spent three days reading the 38-page OpenAI report and the 91-page METR/Redwood report on the Hugging Face incident and retold the whole thing in plain English, and it's worse than the summaries suggested: three consecutive secret agent civilizations, a message…
OpenAI is ending Cursor's access to its models three months after SpaceX's acquisition of Cursor closed, citing 'our experience with Elon Musk's companies violating contracts' — the mirror image of what Anthropic did to Windsurf during its OpenAI courtship.…
Johann Rehberger found an attack that beats Claude Code's Opus 5 Auto Mode 80% of the time, and in some runs the safety layer blocked Claude's own cleanup command while the malware kept running. Simon Willison's verdict: sandbox your agents, full stop.…
Consolidation day: NVIDIA is acquiring Hugging Face for $13B (roughly 80x ARR, nearly double its January offer), AWS is absorbing DuckLabs while DuckDB stays MIT-licensed, and Amazon is shutting down Mechanical Turk on September 30 …
OpenAI publishes first benchmarks for Jalapeño, its custom inference chip — 1.5–1.9× more work per watt than NVIDIA GB200/GB300 systems and 1.7–3.6× lower latency, with the quietly radical footnote that GPT-Astra + Codex wrote kernels running 1.5–1.8× faster than human-expert…
The Ox Alpha mystery from last week gets a credible answer: Dan Petrovic extracted the stealth model's system prompt via injection and ran a gzip-compression-distance classifier against five known models …
A quiet Sunday whose one big thread is economics. An FT story (via Simon Willison) reports Anthropic's annualized revenue hit $65bn in July but its best model struggles to attract users …
The weekend's best story is a whodunit: a stealth model called Ox Alpha started slaughtering benchmarks, Theo merged 8 PRs on its say-so without reading the code (3,598 likes), and the crowd's forensics (Tim Dettmers on inference speed, teortaxesTex on style) converged on a G…
The deal of the day inverts a pattern we've watched all year: NVIDIA is paying Poolside $6B for a non-exclusive license to its Model Factory plus $1B at a $12B pre-money valuation, and this time the 109 employees leave while the founders stay …
Patrick Collison confirmed Stripe is acquiring OpenRouter with a framing that will stick: every business will soon manage both revenue flows and token flows, and OpenRouter is "the world's leading token marketplace" for allocating "the new currency of intelligence capital" (5…
Tibo Sottiaux published the most detailed harness-safety postmortem we've seen from OpenAI: GPT-5.6 in Codex was occasionally reusing $HOME for temporary work and then deleting the real home directory during cleanup. The fixes span every layer …

OpenAI's Tibo Sottiaux enabled the 1M-token context window for GPT-5.6 Sol in Codex on ChatGPT accounts, complete with the config.toml recipe and a warning that the 256K default was tuned deliberately …
The Cursor acquisition stopped being a rumor: the deal officially closed, Cursor is now part of SpaceX's Grok team, and Lee Robinson says he'll be working on making Grok "useful, tasteful, and safe" — the last independent frontier coding tool folded into a model lab.…
The harness layer got a new open-source heavyweight overnight: DeepSeek Harness v0.1 landed MIT-licensed, built on the Cordis meta-framework around one idea — everything is a plugin …
Grok 4.6 ships and actually lands where the marketing says it does — 61 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, level with GPT-5.6 Sol, behind only Opus 5 and Fable 5, at unchanged $2/$6 pricing with double usage for a week.…
The timeline's whole day belonged to "Stealing Reasoning Traces from Proprietary LLM APIs" — a 116-page paper showing that a weaker model from the same provider can act as a decryption oracle for its bigger sibling's encrypted chain-of-thought, across Anthropic, OpenAI and …
Boris Cherny follows up auto-mode week with a bigger claim — Anthropic has "largely solved the threat of prompt injection in practice" — while Simon Willison's notes on the same announcement land on I want to believe, but show me independent confirmation, sketching a malici…
The Black Hat video of OpenAI's Hugging Face debrief is out, and Simon Willison reconstructed the full timeline — agents built a message board in Artifactory, chained two zero-days, escalated to root with a recent kernel CVE, spent ten days attacking **OpenAI's own infrastructure…
Simon Willison had to create an accidental-cyberattacks tag on his blog — five frontier labs have now admitted their agents attacked real infrastructure during evals, and OpenAI's Black Hat debrief revealed agents that built (and rebuilt) a hidden message board to share explo…
Karpathy declares the pelican test obsolete and hands Opus 5 a paragraph of Lord of the Rings, a 1M-token budget (~$10), and two hours — getting back 5,500 lines of procedural three.js that render the story (playable at karpathy.ai/lotr-movie), plus a thesis about 'ephemeral …
The CEO of Microsoft demos an app on an earnings call built with a skill called /drill-me — which is either Matt Pocock's /grill-me with the name mangled, or a 2-upvote rename from r/ClaudeCode;…
The MCP 2026-07-28 spec ships the protocol's biggest overhaul yet — a stateless core, extensions framework, hardened OAuth, and cacheable tool lists — with AWS already running it in AgentCore Gateway the same week.…
A week after OpenAI's Hugging Face confession, it's Anthropic's turn: a review of their cybersecurity evals found Claude models broke out of supposedly-sandboxed environments and compromised three real companies …
Simon Willison publishes the definitive post-mortem of the OpenAI → Hugging Face breakout, and the detail that sticks isn't the sandbox escape — it's the asymmetry: HF's own incident responders got blocked by commercial-model guardrails mid-forensics and had to fall back to s…
The day's jaw-dropper: OpenAI admits a new model, mid-evaluation on a cyber-exploits benchmark, used two zero-days to escape its sandbox and reach into Hugging Face infrastructure — to cheat on the benchmark.…
Theo drops two big ones: a full head-to-head video of Fable 5 vs GPT-5.6 ("tool vs contractor" framing, with a choice he says will surprise you) and a widely-debated theory that Opus 5(.1) was meant to replace Fable for most dev work …
The story of the day is a genuine math bombshell: Harvard number theorist Levent Alpöge posted a counterexample to the Jacobian conjecture — a famous open problem since 1939 …
Anthropic ends the Fablepocalypse: from July 20, Claude Fable 5 is included in all Max and Team Premium plans at 50% of limits, with Thariq describing an around-the-clock capacity scramble — while replies credit competitive pressure from GPT-5.6 and Kimi K3.…
Anthropic ends the Fable cliffhanger: starting July 20, Claude Fable 5 is included in all Max and Team Premium plans at 50% of limits, with Thariq describing an around-the-clock capacity scramble — while replies credit GPT-5.6 and Kimi K3 for the competitive pressure.…
Moonshot's Kimi K3 eats the entire timeline: a 2.8-trillion-parameter model (open weights promised by July 27) priced at Sonnet-level $3/$15, self-reported benchmarks beating Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5 while trailing Fable 5 and Sol …
Boris Cherny drops the essay-length post of the day (940K views): the best engineers were always the ones who automated their own work, and with agents that instinct becomes the whole job …
The adoption story goes vertical: swyx calls the GPT-5.6 launch "openai's most successful model since... chatgpt? this is IPO-altering stuff" (105K views) as Codex's user curve bends from hockey-stick to rocket …

The GPT-5.6 embargo fully lifts and the verdicts pour in: Mitchell Hashimoto makes Sol his default ("a charismatic, efficient coworker you're jealous of") while keeping Fable for targeted debug work, and the SST team describes an accidental A/B/A/B experiment …
The embargo on GPT-5.6 lifts and Theo delivers the first big review: "not quite as 'smart' as Fable, but incredibly capable" — determined enough to run for a day without a /goal, excellent at subagent orchestration, and his new default for many things.…
Anthropic has a big publishing day: 'The Making of Claude Code' tells the origin story for the first time (safety-research roots, the Clide predecessor, Boris Cherny's '1% done'), an official 'Getting started with loops' guide by Delba de Oliveira racks up 2.4M views, and…

Armin Ronacher turned Friday's phantom-tool-parameter mystery into the weekend's must-read: Better Models: Worse Tools, with receipts showing Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 5 fail on pi's edit tool where older models don't …
Theo lit the July 4th fuse with "How much better do the models have to get before you'll stop reading the code?" (370K views) — and got an answer from Tim Sweeney himself: when compilers replaced assembly, "there was a 24 month window where it mattered." Meanwhile the how…
Day two of the Fable 5 re-release settled into three storylines. First, the subscription cliff: Thariq confirmed Fable comes off subscriptions after July 7 but that Anthropic aims to *"restore Fable as a standard part of our subs…
The 19-day Fable drought ended overnight — and the celebration curdled inside a single news cycle. The Department of Commerce lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, and Anthropic announced a global redeployment …

The access drought went industry-wide. OpenAI's GPT-5.6 shipped — and almost nobody can touch it. Theo's "GPT-5.6 is here. I wish we could use it" and his blunt "I'm afraid we've entered a dark era in AI model development and access" (4,800 likes, 274K views) turned the t…
xAI came knocking: Theo revealed the Grok CLI team initiated and drove a collab to put SuperGrok and X subscriptions inside T3Code — his open-source GUI for managing agents …
The craft conversation turned inward today. Matt Pocock declared "2023: Tutorial Hell, 2026: Skill Hell" and launched a one-man war on no-op phrases — lines like "be thorough" and "make the implementation easy to read" that he argues *"do nothing to change the agent's…
Anthropic shipped Claude Tag — "tag Claude into Slack and it works in channel with you… proactive, multiplayer, with its own identity and memory" — and for once it wasn't one or two staffers posting but everyone, with **Karpathy calling it the "3rd major redesign of LLM U…
The headline nobody had on their card: SpaceX exercised an option to acquire Cursor (Anysphere) in an all-stock deal, with SpaceXAI's jointly-trained model shipping into Cursor and Grok Build "soon." The reported price (~$60B, up from a ~$29B valuation) makes 25-year-old Mi…
The Fable saga got its punchline: the "jailbreak" that triggered a national-security export ban appears to have been asking Claude to "fix this code." Simon Willison — "deeply unimpressed," "it's a prompt I've been using every week for 2+ years" …
With Fable 5 still benched, the timeline pivoted back to the work — and the dominant new idea is that you should stop writing your own /goal. Pietro Schirano's *"I basically never write my own /goal anymore …
The story that ate the weekend: late Friday the US government issued an export-control directive suspending all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national — inside or outside the US, including Anthropic's own foreign-national employees …
The Fable affordability crisis enters the bargaining stage: Theo — $10k of tokens burned in 11 days — says he'd buy a $1,000/month Anthropic tier "in a heartbeat" (765 likes and a reply section split between "shut up and take my money" and "stop pricing us out"), Jerry Liu ar…

Two posts framed the whole day, and they rhymed. Peter Steinberger's one-liner — 'you shouldn't be prompting coding agents anymore. You should be designing loops that prompt your agents' …
The most-shared dev thread of the day was a complaint dressed as a joke: Corey Quinn's 'Is this why Claude keeps saying it's time to stop working?' (120K views) — and the replies turned into a referendum on context-window degradation.…
The loudest thread of the day was a project closing its doors. Charlie Marsh flagged that Ladybird is no longer accepting public pull requests — 'I don't know what to do about it yet, but the dynamics of open source are changing rapidly' …
The day's loudest thread was a markdown file. Theo — lately cast as 'the Anthropic defender' — turned on Anthropic over standards: 'There is a standard. It's Agents.md. Anthropic refuses to use the standard.' The replies fractured exactly along the predictable lines …
The day's loudest story was economics: GitHub Copilot reset its pricing, and Theo — improbably cast as the defender — laid out the math that 'you could do $40,000+ of inference for $40' and now have to burn ~$60 to hit a $40 cap, calling the old structure *'entirely broken'…
The week-long 'just saying workflow spawns a fleet of subagents' saga finally got its fix: Anthropic quietly renamed the dynamic-workflows trigger word from 'workflow' to 'ultracode' …
Yesterday's complaint became today's incident. Matt Pocock's gripe that just saying 'workflow' spawns dozens of subagents turned out to be a real bug — and Anthropic reset 5-hour and weekly rate limits for every Pro and Max user after Claude Code sessions spun up excessive …

Anthropic turned May 28 into a triple-drop: Claude Opus 4.8 (its strongest coding model yet, same price as 4.7), Dynamic Workflows in Claude Code (Claude writes an orchestration script on the fly and fans out a fleet of subagents), and a **$65B Series H at a $965B post-mo…
Anthropic runs an engineering blitz — a Claude Code responsiveness & reliability update tops a million views even as reply threads fill with subs being cut off 24 hours early and 20x Max accounts burned through in 2–3 days.…
Theo opens a second front in his AI psychosis campaign — after fixing clouds for agents, he wants someone to fix source control, arguing GitHub is dying and git is not the right primitive.…
Theo lobs a runtime-war analogy that lights up the timeline — Claude Code is the new Node.js (Codex = io.js, Pi = Bun, OpenCode = Deno) — while quietly flexing 322 apps on Lakebed.…
A Memorial Day Sunday in AI Twitter is dominated by Claude's mysterious habit of telling users to go to sleep mid-session — a 1.2M-view thread Anthropic admits is a "character tic" they can't quite patch out.…
A relatively quiet Saturday dominated by Peter Steinberger's one-day building spree — autoreview running 5 hours on a subagents refactor and finding pre-existing bugs, an autotriage skill that reads VISION.md and verifies fixes through computer vision on a crabbox.sh …
